This book may be great if you are 10 years old, but any age over that and the dislogue is juvenile. The plot sounded good but a third of the way into the story and I just could not so stand it. Time for Miss Raye to Morph into an adult and see if she can produce something readable.

I love the first book and I loved this one as well. I was worried that it would be a repeat or wouldn't hold up to the mustard like the first. But, it did. Lil (or wonderful born vamp who even breaths like a human - or at least tries) is back and just as lovely as the first book. The story starts off with a bang and keeps you guessing as to the killer throughout. As a matter of fact, I didn't know who the killer was until the very end. Lil is up to her old dating games and of course the hunky bounty hunter is back. The story ends and you will wish that you had the third book. A great summer read.

Did not find this funny in the least. So, you actually want me to believe there is a 500 year old vampire that has gone one year without sex because she has decided to wait for her true love. Well, that may fly, but come. . . . . on! How can anyone relate to such a spoiled, childish creature? I hated her stupid lines about how beautiful and better she was than everyone else, especially anyone NOT a born vampire. I am sooo not reading another book by this author.

In Dead and Dateless, Kimberly Raye's second novel of Vampire Love, the reader catches up again with Lil Marchette, a born vampire who runs a dating service for the vampire community. Business is booming for Lil, but she finds herself having a bad day when she's accused of murder. She turns to Ty Bonner, her sometimes lover who is appropriate for lustful thoughts, but not a lasting commitment for help. She hopes Ty will be able to both protect her and help clear up this "misunderstanding" with the police.

The novel follows the latest hot trend in romance, comedic paranormals. The writing style is supposed to be breezy and fun with a "chick-lit" feel. Unfortunately, the heroine, Lil is unlikable. She's materialistic and shallow, and her inner monologue plays like that of a 15-year-old girl, rather than a relatable woman. She spends a lot of time brand name dropping, which had the effect of yanking me out of the story.

The hero, Ty, is also difficult to get a feel for. I found him to be strangely broody and brusque, without much to recommend him either. The secondary characters are mostly stock characterizations.

Unfortunately, I found the book to be tedious to read and very easy to put down.

Armchair Interviews says: If you're looking for a well-written paranormal comedy, give Dead and Dateless a pass and look elsewhere.

Dead and Dateless: A Novel of Vampire Love This book is so zany and fun to read, that you will not put it down. I loved how the heroine talks and thinks (style baby style!) of fashions and then how to afford them! Too funny!
